MISSION EMPHASIS WEEK:
Lord willing, next week Sunday, Rev. Zechariah Schiebout will be leading both services in recognition of our annual Missions Emphasis Week.
Immediately following the morning service we will have a Meet and Greet Fellowship Meal with
Rev. Zechariah Schiebout Please join the Fellowship Committee in welcoming Rev. Schiebout and enjoying a time of food and fellowship. Everyone is welcome. Please feel free to invite family and friends. May God bless His church and may we be encouraged in the enduring work of the Church here on earth.
Mission Emphasis Potluck Dinner 6:30p.m. Wednesday, October 11. Please bring a casserole or a salad to share and your own table service. Beverages, rolls and dessert will be provided. (Our church family widowers and widows do not need to bring a dish to pass – the only thing requested is your presence for the evening.) Todd Krygsheld, Chaplain at Holland Rescue Mission, will give a presentation following the meal. In support of them we will be collecting personal items for the Holland Rescue Mission. Donations can be left on the table in the Fellowship Room or brought the night of the dinner.
Happy Anniversary to Bob & Grace DeJonge, they will be married 62 years on Saturday, October 7.
Choir: We will once again be coming together to praise the Lord with song this year. We meet on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 in the sancutary. We would love for anyone to join with us and make a joyful noise before the Lord. If you have any questions please see Don Vanden Top or Pam Berens. The Allendale Christian School Annual Foundation Dinner will be held on Monday, October 9 at Second Church. The theme this year is “Honoring the Past to Preserve the Future”. Punch bowl will begin at 6:00p.m. followed by Dinner at 6:30p.m. The entertainment for the evening will be Dueling Pianos. Zion Christian School: Please join Zion Christian School at its Annual Auction. It will be held at the school on Saturday, October 14. Doors open at 4:30p.m. and the live auction starts at 6:00p.m. This is sure to be a fun-filled evening, complete with a delicious dinner catered by Chick-Fil-A and many great items to bid on. This is an adults-only event. If you would like to donate an item for the auction, please bring it to school as soon as possible. Baked goods, to be auctioned off on the baked goods table, can be brought to school on the day of the auction from 12:00-4:30p.m. We hope to see you there!
Cornerstone URC: The Missions Committee of Cornerstone URC, Hudsonville invites you to our Foreign Mission Emphasis Family Night on Wednesday, October 4. A Soup Supper Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:45p.m. with all donations going to Pastor Moses in India for their Christmas Celebration in South India and VBS in May 2018. At 7:00p.m., we will gather in the sanctuary to hear our missionaries Rev. Carlos and Rebecca Pinto fromQuito, Ecuador, share about the missionary work they are doing in building God’s Kingdom. In his latest report, Rev. Pinto wrote, “It is a dream come true to see Latin American missionaries preparing to serve in France, Cambodia, Peru as well as in Israel.” How exciting to hear that God’s Word is being preached around the world! Please mark your calendars and make plans to join us!
The Revive Resale Store is seeking a new part-time assistant manager. This position requires approximately 20 hours a week (daytime hours and every 5th Saturday; no evenings or holidays). Revive is in need of cashiers! Revive needs cashiers for 2 hour shifts on a weekly and a monthly basis as well as on-call cashier subs. We will work with any time commitment you are able to give! Revive welcomes high school age volunteers and older for this position.
